Patients who need palliative care on the neurology ward

Article indépendant

WILLERT, Anna-Christin | PLONER, Christoph J. | KOWSKI, Alexander B.

Patients with incurable diseases and neurological comorbidities have significant palliative care needs. Although neurological patients rank second after cancer patients in terms of palliative care overall, universal implementation of palliative care in the treatment of patients beyond the field of oncology is still in its infancy. Complex palliative treatment (CPT) is a structural approach designed to do justice to the complex requirements of these patients even in settings other than a dedicated palliative facility. This is made possible by multiprofessional palliative care consultation services.
