L'étude concerne une estimation chiffrée de patients nécessitant des soins palliatifs parmi ceux hospitalisés en secteur de soins aigus. L'enquête a été effectuée sur une période de 5 jours à partir d'entretiens réalisés avec le personnel médical et paramédical, et de revues de cas. Les résultats sont donnés sous forme commentée, avec graphiques et tableaux statistiques ; ils sont à la fois quantitatifs et qualitatifs. Un des points soulevé est la différence d'évaluation entre les médecins et le personnel infirmier sur les patients ayant des besoins en soins palliatifs, par rapport à leur domaine respectif d'expertise. L'analyse montre la nécessité de poursuivre la formation de ces équipes.
