Il est admis que le rôle du médecin a beaucoup évolué ce dernier siècle. Ces changements ont fortement transformé la relation soignant-soigné. Cette étude ethnographique montre comment ils ont aussi affectés les attitudes et les attentes des patients en soins palliatifs. 80 personnes, âgées de 55 ans et plus, ont été enquêtées à domicile. L'analyse des résultats montre notamment que le testament de vie est souvent cité par les personnes et que les soins de fin de vie ne sont pas considérés comme suffisamment efficaces.
