International audience. We report on the first observation of magnetic-domain structure during spin reversal under field in ultrathin metallic films with perpendicular anisotropy. The magnetization reversal is either dominated by the nucleation process or by domain-wall motion. The related magnetic aftereffect is analyzed starting from the Fatuzzo theory.

International audience. Starting from experimental results, we show how polar magneto-optics are able to probe the magnetization depth profile at a nanometer scale. This is demonstrated in a simple ultrathin film sy...

Polar magneto-optics in simple ultrathin-magnetic-film structures
