Oblique incidence MOKE in ultrathin Au/Co wedges

International audience. Magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) spectra on ultrathin Au/Co wedge structures with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy are investigated in a wide range of angles of incidence. Experimental results are well explained by the electromagnetic wave theory for stratified media. This agreement is consistent with a good definition of layer thicknesses on an atomic scale and sharp Au-Co inter-faces. Analytical expressions for MOKE at oblique incidence, in sandwiches and bilayers, are presented.
