En 2017, durant la fouille de sauvetage d’un cimetière à Pianliancheng en Mandchourie, l’équipe de la mission archéologique franco-chinoise dans le nord-est de la Chine (MAFNEC) a mis au jour une médaille religieuse portant une inscription en français. Partie immergée de l’iceberg, elle témoigne d’un étonnant cimetière au tournant du XXe siècle, qui mêlait traditions confucéennes et catholiques en jeu dans les structures sociales contemporaines.
