Cet article concerne les spécificités de la douleur incidente par rapport à la douleur aiguë imprévisible. Il commente une étude qui a recherché à comparer son traitement par protoxyde d'azote et par un placebo mélange oxygène air. L'auteur présente ensuite une formule de calcul sur l'évaluation des effets thérapeutiques. Le résultat qui prend en compte le score de base de douleur de chaque patient est appelé pourcentage de l'effet analgésique possible.
