The emergence of Medicare hospice care in US nursing homes = L'apparition du Medicare en soins palliatifs dans les centres de soins aux Etats Unis

Une enquête a été réalisée aux Etats Unis sur l'utilisation en soins palliatifs du Medicare, aide financière gouvernementale, entre les années 1992 et 1996. La méthodologie se base sur l'étude des données fournies par des utilisateurs et des statistiques du Medicare dans 5 états, il a pu être identifié les caractéristiques des personnes ayant bénéficié de soins palliatifs et le type de soins donnés. Les résultats sont donnés sous forme de tableaux statistiques, accompagnés de leurs commentaires. La conclusion présente les bénéfices apportés par ce système d'aide. Deux points sont spécifiquement noté : la durée moyenne de séjour et les avantages de cette aide à des groupes sociaux minoritaires.
