Foi, religion et spiritualité ne devraient pas être considérées isolément mais plutôt liées à d'autres facteurs dans un contexte culturel. C'est par ce point de vue que les professionnels de santé peuvent comprendre la signification de la foi et de la culture. Dans le cas des musulmans, la foi islamique joue un rôle significatif dans le suivi des valeurs culturelles et les croyances. Il est impératif pour les professionnels de santé de connaître et de comprendre la valeur de la foi islamique chez les musulmans. Ces patients en phase terminale requièrent des soins spécifiques liés à leurs besoins physiques, psychosociaux et culturels. Cette spécificité des soins en phase terminale selon la culture revêt une grande importance tant pour les patients que pour les familles.
