Personal and professional experiences of pediatric residents concerning death = Expériences personnelles et profesionnelles relatives à la mort chez des internes en pédiatrie

Cette étude participe aux recherches sur l'impact de la mort d'un enfant chez les professionnels de santé ; un schéma résume un cadre de travail conceptuel sur les facteurs qui peuvent les faciliter ou les mettre en difficultés face à cet évènement. L'enquête présentée a été réalisée sur une période de trois ans, auprès de quatre groupes successifs d'internes, soit 79 participants au milieu de leur période de formation. Le questionnaire d'évaluation est présenté en annexe. Les résultats concernent quatre thèmes : expérience du décès d'un proche, croyances sur la mort, vécu professionnel de la mort d'enfants et présence aux funérailles ; il sont illustrés par des extraits de témoignages au niveau qualitatif et des tableaux statistiques au niveau quantitatif. Deux facteurs sont notamment discuté, le rôle négatif de la culpabilité et celui positif de participation à l'enterrement du patient.
