Cette recherche est basée sur l'analyse des conditions de fin de vie et de mort de patients dans un centre hospitalo-universitaire américain., notamment au sujet des informations données sur les possibilités de soins palliatifs et la décision de réanimation. La comparaison a été faite entre les services hospitaliers généraux et celui des soins intensifs. Les résultats repris sous forme de tableaux statistiques ont montré une moindre qualité de fin de vie pour les patients décédant en soins intensifs.
