L'étude recherche les différences significatives entre patients cancéreux bénéficiant ou non d'une hospitalisation à domicile. L'analyse s'est faite en comparant les caractéristiques de ces deux groupes à partir de données concernant leur dernière année de vie. Les résultats sont donnés sous forme de commentaires et de tableaux statistiques. Ils montrent des variations sur un grand nombre de facteurs : démographiques, socio-économiques, médicaux (pathologie, diagnostic, prise en charge). Ils notent les références positives et négatives par rapport à l'hospitalisation à domicile.
