Cette étude a pour objectif d'évaluer la compréhension des parents du pronostic chez les enfants qui meurent du cancer et d'évaluer l'association de ce facteur avec les objectifs du traitement et les soins palliatifs reçus par les enfants. L'étude a été menée entre septembre 1997 et août 1998 auprès de 103 parents d'enfants qui ont reçu un traitement au Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital à Boston et qui sont décédés du cancer entre 1990 et 1997. L'étude inclut aussi 42 oncologues pédiatriques.
