Integrating health equity in the ASCO guideline agenda : recommendations from members of the palliative care expert panel

In the process of updating the “Palliative Care for Patients with Cancer: ASCO Guideline”12,13,23 and throughout the systematic review, literature appraisal, and guideline development, members of the Expert Panel iteratively engaged several questions pertinent to the provision of equitable cancer care. Members of the Expert Panel, in collaboration with the ASCO Health Equity and Outcomes Committee, wish to further discuss equity herein. Following a brief description of ASCO’s efforts to promote equity, this article discusses this guideline development process and highlights relevant challenges and opportunities for future guideline Expert Panels.
