On dispose de peu de données sur la contribution de la faune sauvage à la propagation de la résistance aux antibiotiques. Ce chapitre présente les résultats d’une recherche menée en Guadeloupe par une équipe de microbiologistes de l’Institut Pasteur, qui avait pour finalité de déterminer la prévalence de la résistance aux antibiotiques dans les isolats d’Escherichia coli collectés chez les animaux sauvages (iguanes, oiseaux, anoles, rongeurs) entre 2013 et 2014, et la base génétique de la résistance aux céphalosporines de troisième génération.
