International audience. The aim of this study was to determine the transfusion transmitted Virus (TTV) prevalence in three groups of population from Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The A group contained 39 multitransfused patients, the B group contained 10 blood donors supposed to be healthy persons which have never been transfused and the group C contained 43 patients with chronic liver pathology. In this last group, 33 patients had HBV positive serology and the 10 others, HCV positive serology. We used PCR to investigate TTV in patients serum. Detection rates were comprised between 67% and 82%. This is the first study to provide information about the high portage of TTV in ivorian population. . L'objectif de cette étude était de déterminer la prévalence du portage du virus transmis par la transfusion (VTT) dans la population ivoirienne. Le virus a été recherché par PCR dans le sérum de trois groupes de population. Un groupe A, composé de 39 sujets polytransfusés, un groupe B, de 10 donneurs de sang supposés sains et n'ayant jamais subi de transfusion, enfin, un groupe C, comprenant 43 porteurs d'une hépatopathie virale chronique (dont 33 avec une hépatite B et 10 avec une hépatite C). Nos résultats ont montré des taux de détection variant de 67% à 82%. Cette étude est la première à fournir des informations sur le fort portage du VTT dans la population ivoirienne.
