Daniele Manacorda. Il mestiere dell’archeologo

The volume brings together the contributions of the Italian archaeologist Daniele Manacorda (Rome, 1949), published for more than three decades in the journal "Archeo" (an Italian monthly journal established in Rome in 1985 by Sabatino Moscati, with the aim of disseminating news of archaeological research to the general public). These texts, collected under the heading "Il mestiere dell'archeologo", constitute a varied and inexhaustible source of reflections on archaeology, perceived under a multiplicity of aspects, which the coordinators of the volume have grouped under five themes (each accompanied by an introductory text): methodology, landscapes, conservation and enhancement of the archaeological heritage, identity and the meaning of history and, finally, the professional dimension of archaeology. The texts as a whole allow us to follow the evolution of the author's thinking and thus to access, in an original way, the history of Italian archaeology over the last thirty years. . L’ouvrage réunit les contributions de l’archéologue italien Daniele Manacorda (Rome, 1949), publiées pendant plus de trois décennies au sein de la revue « Archeo » (revue italienne, à parution mensuelle, instituée à Rome, en 1985, par Sabatino Moscati, dans le but de diffuser auprès du grand public les actualités de la recherche archéologique). Ces textes, rassemblés dans la rubrique « Il mestiere dell’archeologo », constituent une source aussi variée qu’inépuisable de réflexions sur l’archéologie, perçue sous une multiplicité d’aspects, que les coordinateurs de l’ouvrage ont rassemblés sous cinq thèmes (chacun accompagné d’un texte introductif) : la méthodologie, les paysages, la conservation et la valorisation du patrimoine archéologique, l’identité et le sens de l’histoire et, pour finir, la dimension professionnelle de l’archéologie. Dans leur ensemble, les textes permettent de parcourir l’évolution de la pensée de l’auteur et d’accéder ainsi, d’une façon originale, à l’histoire de l’archéologie italienne des trente dernières années.
