The poster presents a study on the coda repertoire of sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) off Mauritius, within the social group "Irène Gueule Tordue", which has recently split into two distinct social units. The aim of this research is to analyse and compare the codas emitted by these two units. Data was collected using a mobile acoustic array, which allowed high resolution recordings to be made during passive underwater observations. The results show significant differences in the types of codas produced by each sub-unit, although no relevant differences were observed in the number of clicks per coda, their duration or the intervals between clicks. Irene's unit presented a greater diversity of codas, which may reflect a richer communication influenced by the social composition of the group. These differences suggest variations in communication strategies between the two units. However, factors such as individual variability and behavioral context remain to be investigated.
