Leaflet and Neoskirt Height in Transcatheter Heart Valves

International audience. Transcatheter heart valves (THVs) have the potential to degenerate and may require reintervention. In the case of redo transcatheter aortic valve replacement for failed THV, the leaf-lets of the failed THV may be pushed open by the new THV, creating a “neoskirt” covered stent. Although asmall number of studies have explored this with respect to risk of coronary obstruction, feasibility of coronary reaccess, and ex vivo hydrodynamic testing (1-3), there is a lack of information on the height to which leaflets extend on THVs and their position relative to markers observable on fluoroscopic and computed tomography imaging. Leaflet and neoskirt height have important implications on the risk of coronary obstruction and future coronary access. To address this, we present a multimodality bench analysis of different THVs.
