International audience. A large scale averaging method is used to study and simulate the influence of water on the solid waste biodegradation kinetics in landfill context. The basic process of interest is a two-phase flow transport model in homogeneous porous medium coupled with a hydrolysis biological reaction. The hydrolysis kinetic is weighted by a Heaviside function which depends on the local saturation level linked to the global moisture content. The shape of the large scale weighting function is in correlation with the experimental linear relationship described in literature for many solid wastes.
