Anaphylaxis during anaesthesia is a life-threatening conditionwith an estimated incidence of approximately 1:10,000.1 Broncho-spasm during general anaesthesia is classically associated with anIgE-mediated reaction but other underlying mechanisms havebeen described during general anaesthesia.2 It is well known thatbeing overweight is associated with an increased risk of airwayhyperresponsiveness (AHR). The aim of this study is to determinewhether being overweight is associated with an increased risk ofbronchospasm or non-IgE-mediated bronchospasm during generalanaesthesia and describe the clinical characteristics of patientswith bronchospasm
