International audience. The US Salinity Temperature and Roughness Remote Scanner (STARRS) was exploited during an European campaign in 2001 (EuroSTARRS) supporting the scientific preparation of the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission. This paper is intended to introduce the EuroSTARRS experiment set-up and to provide an overview of all activities performed during this campaign.
