The purposes of the multidisciplinary FP7-DIGISOIL project are the integration and improvement of in situ and proximal measurement technologies for the assessment of soil properties and soil degradation indicators. In order to assess such objectives, high resolution and quantitative maps of soil properties are needed. The core objective of the project is to explore and exploit new capabilities of advanced geophysical technologies for answering this societal demand. To this aim, FP7-DIGISOIL addressed four issues (i) the validation of geophysical (in situ, proximal and airborne) technologies and integrated pedogeophysical inversion techniques, (ii) the relation between the geophysical parameters and the soil properties, (iii) the integration of the derived soil properties for mapping soil functions and soil threats, (iv) the pre-evaluation, standardisation and sub-industrialization of the proposed methodologies, including technical and economic studies related to the societal demand. . L’objet du projet multidisciplinaire Européen DIGISOIL est d’intégrer et d’améliorer les technologies permettant de mesurer les propriétés des sols et leurs indicateurs de dégradation. Afin d’atteindre cet objectif, la production de cartes haute résolution de propriétés de sol est nécessaire. Le coeur du projet consiste à explorer et exploiter les nouvelles performances des méthodes géophysiques pour couvrir cette demande environnementale. Pour cela, DIGISOIL a étudié 4 aspects : (i) la validation des méthodes géophysiques et des protocoles de traitement associés, (ii) les relations entre paramètres géophysiques et propriétés de sol, (iii) l’intégration de ces propriétés afin de cartographier des fonctions ou des menaces, (iv) l’évaluation des performances et des impacts socio-économiques de ce nouvel outil.
