International audience. Cellular senescence is a stress response of mammalian cells leading to a durable arrest of cell proliferation that has been implicated in tumor suppression, wound healing, and aging. The proliferative arrest is mediated by transcriptional repression of genes essential for cell division by the retinoblastoma protein family. This repression is accompanied by varying degrees of heterochromatin assembly, but little is known regarding the molecular mechanisms involved.

Histone variant H2A.J accumulates in senescent cells and promotes inflammatory gene expression

Archive ouverte | Contrepois, Kévin | CCSD

International audience. The senescence of mammalian cells is characterized by a proliferative arrest in response to stress and the expression of an inflammatory phenotype. Here we show that histone H2A.J, a poorly s...

Histone Variant H2A.J Is Enriched in Luminal Epithelial Gland Cells

Archive ouverte | Redon, Christophe | CCSD

International audience. H2A.J is a poorly studied mammalian-specific variant of histone H2A. We used immunohistochemistry to study its localization in various human and mouse tissues. H2A.J showed cell-type specific...
