Avec deux associations nationales fortes et des débuts remontant à la fin des années 1970, les soins palliatifs sont bien développés en Norvège. Cependant, il y a des défis comme la formation pluridisciplinaire, les soins dans les maisons de soins infirmiers, les décès à domicile, les soins aux patients non cancéreux et la mise en œuvre d'une réforme récente visant à obtenir des soins palliatifs intégrés.
