En soins palliatifs, les douleurs de l'enfant requièrent souvent l'usage des opioïdes. La crainte justifiée de déclencher une toxicomanie a entravé pendant longtemps la bonne prescription et le maniement des morphiniques chez l'enfant. L'état actuel des connaissances ne peut plus justifier l'abstention thérapeutique ou le sous-traitement de la douleur de l'enfant.
