Les soins palliatifs en milieu carcéral

Aux Etats-Unis, les nouvelles mesures de fermeté contre le crime ont entraîné une augmentation du nombre de condamnés à perpétuité. Le milieu carcéral est propice aux difficultés de santé: vieillissement plus rapide que pour le reste de la population, problèmes de santé habituellement présents chez les personnes plus âgées hors milieu carcéral, nombre de séquelles de maladies chroniques plus élevé. De plus, les conditions carcérales ne facilitent pas les relations avec la famille. C'est dans ces conditions que les soins palliatifs devront adapter leurs programmes de soins. Les auteurs rendent compte des études menées sur la prise en charge des détenus en fin de vie aux Etats-unis, au Royaume Uni, en australie, en Nouvelle zélande, en Irlande.
